Hi, folks!
Thanks to those of you who have [highly] rated the C1BAD66 Malibu!
The car was purchased as a strongly-built Pro-Streeter with a supercharged small block, full-manual TH-400, caged, and back-halfed with a Dana 60 rear axle housing. The big ol' stereo was the first thing removed.
The car was originally destined to be a cruise-on-the-street, go-to-Hot August Nights, and sometimes go-to-the-dragstrip car. That really didn't work out, so it sees strip duty only, nowadays.
Right after the purchase of the car, a GMPP ZZ-502 Deluxe (502 H.P.) was installed and run with the parts that came in the crate. It managed to go 10.8's at over 122 as of late '08.
Well, there had been that B.D.S. 6-71 from the small block sitting in the garage for several years doing nothing but taking up space. Hmmm...
Just prior to the '09 March Meet, a couple of larger carbs and a manifold change got that 6-71 onto the [crate] 502 with a little under 4 pounds [calculated] boost.
With a by-guess-and-by-golly tune-up, it goes 10.2's at 126+ at 3535 lbs. (with driver) on pump gas with a dash of octane booster. It's begging for more fuel flow, now. It should run the quarter at 133+.
Fiber-glass parts are limited to the hood, trunk lid, front fender aprons, and bumpers. The car has a passenger seat and would be street-legal with treaded rear tires, windshield wipers, and street-type mufflers. That special license plate and insurance are maintained, just in case... The paint is a single-stage Centari crimson red, rumored to be a base color for a Dodge truck finish.
Thanks for taking a look!
Tom
